The boy and I visited his parents in the mountains this weekend. I say "parents" because we ended up not really visiting with his 3 siblings who, although entirely present in the house, were busy playing Resident Evil 5 the entire time (excluding meals). Now, I am not entirely bitter about this (excluding disappointment). I enjoy his parents and we had some great conversations. However, as this was a parent-themed trip I felt all the more awkward when we and the entire family watched Watchmen in the theater. I do not currently know what my final opinion on Watchmen will be...but I know that it is DAMN AWKWARD to view in a theater with potential in-laws and children under 18.

It's sunny and bright here, a little on the cool breezy side but not too much so. I'm cleaning in preparation for a dinner party tomorrow, but also in pre-pre-preparation for the potential move this Summer. This last bit may sound wildly unreasonable, especially juxtaposed against the extremely reasonable preparation for impending guests. But I've always loved a little wildly unreasonable juxtaposition.

I'm reviewing my schedule for the upcoming week and writing in 1-1.5 hour blocks for writing. There's this idea that writers just can't help but write (not always true for me) and that any aspiring writer must write all the time. This last one is most probably true. But the first one is an issue for me right now.

I went to my favorite place to buy blue jeans yesterday, Ann Taylor Loft. I lurrrve their Curvy Boot cut jeans and decided just a couple of years ago that I can't afford to keep buying cheap jeans, nor can I afford to wear jeans that don't fit very well. One is for financial concerns, one is aesthetic but both are concerns. Holla? Holla. Just cannot afford to do either one.

Day Three of the Big Digital clean has come to a close. I haven't kept track of exactly how many emails I've cleaned but I know it's thousands. Maybe 3,000? 3500? A very large number. In other news I'm kind of in between watching shows at the moment, might switch over to movies. I am utterly behind in Ugly Betty, Smallville, and Heroes and am pretty OK about it! Ding! Moving on!

I spent the better part of today going through my massive MASSIVE inbox and all of its folders, deleting and rearranging and saving emails. Emails from 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008...ridiculous amounts of email. It was a surprisingly emotional process, I suppose that's why I have been putting it off for such a long time. I mean, sure, there's the tedium factor to consider, but honestly, it got less tedious and more intense as I kept click-click-clicking away.

As many of you may know, this is an incredibly bad time for the US Economy. We're in a recession, we're tanking, we're not doing so well. I keep calling it "a bad time of century." As in, "It's a bad time of century to be unemployed" or "It's a bad time of century to be looking for an artsy job" or - my personal favorite - "It's a bad time of century to be lazy about looking for jobs."

Is it common for people to blog about their blogs? It just seems so masturbatory and kind of overly "process-ish" but I find it kind of great to get those types of thoughts out once in a here and then.
Notice that this is not a full blog about blogging. Rather, I'd call this a mini-meta blog. Oh dear with the prefixes.

Instead of writing a little bit everyday like I tell myself I've been writing a tiny bit twice a week. I am not impressed with myself right now.

Flow theory is really really interesting. Having learned about it from both a psychology standpoint and a performance/movement background I can say that it's probably one of the most fascinating topics of which a creative person can be aware.

Thanksgiving was rough. Not horrible, but rough. Since I was pretty much aiming for "not horrible" I think I did ok. My family has been overturned by a gigantic, horrific loss and there's nothing like the holidays to make you feel...well, like you've had a loss. Gah. However, let's hear it for "not horrible"!

How many shows do you still hang on to after they've been cancelled? How long ago was it cancelled? Could you list them? Is there a meme for this!? I think there should be. I've been thinking about this funny fandom question for the past couple of hours.

When I'm not being anxious and empathically tied up with the televised news of the 2008 Presidential Election, I am catching up with old favorites, making new friends, and deciding what I'll only watch when the good stuff *ahem* - my preferred programs are on hiatus.
